Wire rope classifications and features
The different possible strands lay around a core to form a wire rope.
Wire rope is identified not only by its component parts, but also by its own construction, i.e., by the way the wires have been laid to form strands, and by the way the strands have been laid around the core.
Consequently, lay has three different meanings in ropes design.
The first two meanings of “lay” are descriptive of the wire and strand positions in the rope. The third meaning is a length measurement used in manufacturing and inspection.
Tailor made solution are used to comply with different and complex customer requirements to optimize performance on many different application, including the most severe.
